Reagan takes a bath

Well today was bath day for Reagan. She did a wonderful job at getting cleaner even though I did most of the work. I love the way she smells afterward. Way better than what she smelled like before I changed her diaper earlier today. She did pee on the towel that we had her on but don't worry everyone, I used Jasmine's towel.

Speaking of peeing on the towel...

We took her to the doctor and when she was being weighed (for which the baby has to be naked) she started to pee and poop all over the scale. Let's just say she wasn't as heavy afterwards! The doctor said that she is doing really good. She has another appointment in about a week and a half. We will keep you all updated.

In the meantime look at these!

Welcome my new Baby Belle-uga into this world!

Reagan Belle Masias was born on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 10:32 AM. She weighed an astounding 9 lbs 3 oz and measured 21.5 inches long.

We had an induction scheduled on Tuesday at 8 AM and we were told to call the hospital to make sure that they had enough space for us and when we did we were told that we had to wait because they had too many moms in labor. They told us to call back at 10 AM to see if there was any improvements, so we did and they were still full. This continued to happen every couple hours until 4:00 PM when they called us and said that we could come in. The nurse also said that we could not bring anybody that was pregnant and if we saw anyone pregnant in the parking lot of the hospital we needed to run them over. Come to find out on Monday they had 16 moms in labor at the hospital and were over capacity.

So we finally went in on Tuesday at 5 PM and Jasmine got induced around 6. Here is the timeline.

6:00 PM: Jasmine induced

7:00 PM: Tim's dinner time

8:00 PM: We watched Wipe Out on TV

9:00 PM: Matt has a hard time staying awake

10:00 PM: Jasmine begins to really hurt

11:00 PM: Matt and Jasmine's mom go home and Jasmine asks for an epidural

11:45 PM: Jasmine finally gets epidural after being forgotten about

12:15 AM: Tim leaves Jasmine alone in her pain and goes to bed

1:30 AM: Jasmine gets her water broken by nurses and Tim wakes up due to noise

1:35 AM: Jasmine is dilated to a meager 4

2:15 AM: Tim falls back asleep

6:00 AM: Jasmine is dilated to a 9 and Tim wakes up

8:15 AM: Doctor arrives and says that it is go time

8:30 AM: The pushing begins

8:35 AM: The baby crowns and we see brown hair

8:45 AM: The pushing continues

9:00 AM: The pushing continues

9:15 AM: You get the picture

10:15 AM: Pushing has not gone anywhere and Dr. asks Jasmine if she wants help

10:16 AM: Jasmine says heck yes!

10:20 AM: Dr. gets forceps

10:32 AM: Baby is born

It was not an easy time for Jasmine at all but she did it and she did an amazing job. She really taught me a thing or two about what it means to be strong! I cannot believe all of the hard work it took.

It was not an easy labor for the baby either. She was born with the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck 2 times and she also swallowed meconium so the staff immediately had tubes down her throat sucking all the crap out (no pun intended) of her. Poor thing. She was place on Jasmine's chest for only a matter of seconds before we had to take her to the Newborn ICU. She was place under an oxygen helmet for about 12 hours and was given an IV for nurishment. We could not hold her that whole time. She recovered from her breathing problem overnight and another day or so later she was off of her IV. We finally got to have her in our room with us on Friday morning which was also the day that we left the hospital. The first night that we spent with Reagan was on Friday night at home. That story can be saved for another post but I will say that I have never been more worried about something so bad in my life.

I really understand what a blessing this baby is to our little family. I have fallen in love with her and I must admit that she already has me wrapped around her beautiful finger. She is the most precious treasure that I have in my life and I am sure that Jasmine would say the same thing. This last week or so has made me realize how great blessing my family is to me and how much I love my them. I am a dad!

Nursery!!

Well last night we finally got the rest of the furniture for the baby's room so it is now complete...well almost, we have a few more things to put up on the walls but overall it's done!

I must say Tim worked really hard in here and did all the painting and put up all the cute vinyl animals that my friend Ashley made for us. Tim also put all the furniture together and all of this without me having to "nag" him! Tim got me the rocking chair for my birthday.

Here is the proof that Tim did the work (with some help from Matt)!

Fire Man Tim

At work today we had the pleasure of hosting the firefighters from the West Valley Police Department. They showed us their software as well as all of their toys. Here is a picture of me driving the firetruck. I am actually not driving it but I got to sit there. I also held the hose. That was not as easy as it looks.

French Friends

We recently had a visit from some friends from my mission in France. Their names are Magloire and Darlene. They came to the States on vacation last month. I am really glad that they stopped by. I asked them what they wanted to do during the day and Darlene said that she wanted to see the Great Salt Lake and I wanted to take them to the Box Elder County Rodeo in Tremonton that night. What is more American than the Great Salt Lake and a rodeo???

I decided to go out to Antalope Island on the way up to Tremonton. It was about 15 minutes and $9.00 out of our way and when we got there we could hardly open our car doors without passing out from the smell. We eventually made it out to take some pictures and then we shook the bugs off and climbed back into the car. Unfortunatly, we did not shake all of the flies. Jasmine was pretty sick after our small adventure.

Later that night while at the rodeo some of Jasmine's relatives thought that it would be nice to have the rodeo clown announce to the arena that they Magloire and Darlene were in the crowd attending their first rodeo all the way from Africa and France. Poor Magloire thought that the rodeo clown was calling him down to the arena (because he couldn't understand) so he refused to stand up. He was quite embarassed. I think that they had a good time and so did we. Here are some pictures to prove it.

7 More Days At Most

Well I am officially sick of Jasmine...being pregnant. She is getting on my nerves day in and day out. Just kidding everyone. She has been a magnificent pregnant lady. She is staying very active with Matthew and I.

I wanted to write a quick blurb and let you all know that Jasmine and I went to the doctor today for her last appointment before her due date on Sept. 6. Good news, the doctor said that we are going to have our baby at least by next Tuesday. We set an appointment for her to be induced that day so if she doesn't come by choice we are going to force her out.

We will post baby news as it comes in...

This is the last pregnancy picture of Jasmine that I am going to post. This is her at 39 weeks and 3 days along, or should I say a-wide!!!!!!!
